Wednesday August 31st...The garden, revisited

Alas, today is the last day of Susannah's August Break project. I feel quite sad to see August end but at the same time, as the leaves are already beginning to turn here, I am in anticipation of my favourite season, Autumn. This week's 52 Photos Project asks us to revisit the garden, a theme that was first suggested at the beginning of the summer. And so out I went to explore and found the sneaky signs of an early Autumn. I have to say that I didn't pay much attention to the snail by the frog's feet but now, when I look, it seems Mr Frog is playing a sweet lullaby just for Snail.

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
George Eliot

Imagine a woman who values the women in her life.
A woman who sits in circles of women.
Who is reminded of the truth about herself when she forgets.

I'm really proud of this necklace, which I created today at a jewellery making workshop at the enchanting The Makery.

August Friday 26th

I love that there are so many ladybirds around at the moment. For me they are full to the brim with positive energy. This afternoon I found so many on my basil plants, it truly looked like a lady bird social gathering. When I looked into the symbolism of these beautiful, instinctive creatures I wasn't surprised to find qualities such as faith, trust, renewal and regeneration. I needed to hear their message today.

Thursday August 25th

This week I have been learning a lot about the properties of plants, I am totally fascinated. The honeysuckle in my garden draws me nearer, over and over again, and so I thought I would partake in a little research about its properties.

Honeysuckle:
Empathy, self acceptance, strength, self confidence, safety, sharpener of intuition, invites prosperity, aids understanding of the non physical reality.

Tuesday August 23rd Silhouette

Whilst spending a quiet, solitary moment in the garden before retiring for a much needed early night, the sky developed glorious wisps of pink. As if this sky magic wasn't enough this scene also fits in beautifully with 52 Photos Project theme of the week, silhouette.

It is the poetry of Nature; it is that which uplifts the spirit within us.
John Ruskin

Wednesday August 17th : black and white

Last week I combined my August Break daily photo with the 52 Photos Project prompt and it worked really well for me, thus I have gone for the double purpose shot again.

This week's theme is black and white. I love the atmosphere of black and white very much, a mixture of moodiness and sophistication with just a hint of mystery. After much consideration I opted for a series of self portraits - a huge leap of faith for me. The thing is that my self confidence plummets into the deep depths when it comes to images of myself, however today I feel brave enough to challenge this perception.
